The best thing about working on BLACK SCORPION was two-fold. First, the studio was located in Venice and close enough for me to walk to. Second, Roger Corman's Concorde Studios was the place where the likes of Jack Nicholson, Francis Ford Coppola and Martin Scorcese got their start. I walked through the dilapidated sound stages with ceilings low enough that Shaq would bump his head. Catered meals consisted of hot dogs and donuts. The lighting was so bad, my name on the dressing room was in braille. However, I loved every minute of working from nine at night 'til nine in the morning. We were hiding from the cops, because Roger had no permits. And even though I've never seen the footage, I'm told it rates right up there with classic Roger footage, and that's good enough for me...especially the part where I get blown up and I'm set on fire.

I was invited to the Science Fiction Convention - pro bono - to help promote the Black Scopion television series. I was overwhelmed by the devotion of the fans and how knowledgable they were about the subtle nuances of science fiction cinema. Anotherwords, I couldn't relate. However, it was a spectacle I'll never forget. There were monsters with two heads and three breasts, and super heroes that I only wish existed in real life to save our planet. Thank you Roger Corman for letting me be a part of Concorde Studio history.
